Car Rental Competion

by on 10:47 PM
It appears that the Car Rental companies are competing to stay on top.

Recently Hertz aquired the Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group. This recent aquisition has made Hertz the second largest car rental company.  Enterprise is currently the largest in the US.

Avis which falls in third place just aquired Zipcar for $491 Million.

We'll have to wait and see what Avis's acquisition of Zipcar will do to the car sharing brand.

Still Zipping in 2013?

by on 4:53 AM
Recently someone asked me if i'm still zipping around.

When I started this blog, I was an active customer with Zip Car. At the time I lived in the Bronx, where zip cars were accessible. I moved to Long Island since then. I have not been able to make use of my zip car account.

I see Zip Cars on the Long Island Expressway all the time. I think they're expanding their territory.

I still have the iPhone app loaded in my phone and I'm still a fan of their service.

My membership is current and I keep it that way just in case I may need them in NYC one of these days. They're also all over Toronto, where I frequent.

I guess its still safe to say I'm a zipster at heart. I have a few more reviews and videos I never got a chance to post. I'll work on getting them up.

If you're reading this and are a current member of zip car, let me know if you're interested in reviewing their service here on my blog.

ZIP Car Goes Public! Good & Bad!

by on 11:54 AM
Yesterday April 14th ZIP Car went public. The stock was undersold by their underwriters Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan. The stock debuted at $18.00 and by the time the closing bell went off, the stock escalated to $28.00. Although the stock looked like a superstar on the market on its first day it is said that the company is expected to lose 50 million dollars. Analyst say that that stock should have been introduced at about $23. I am keeping a eye on this stock today. It seems that alot of traders are unloading the stock in order to secure a profit to their clients. ZIP Cars stock can be found under the symbol ZIP.

On the plus side of things due to the fact that the stock did so well, this might open up some new doors for the company in regards of attracting more investors.

Customer Service @ ZipCar Inc.

by on 8:20 PM
When I called Zipcar's phone support system, I felt like I had a friend on the other line. When I made my first reservation they were very helpful, from beginning to end.

Last week I learned, if you want to reserve one of their high end vehicles for the weekend, be sure to make the reservation well into the week. Don't wait til the last minute.

This week I did just that. I made my reservation early. I needed to make some changes and wasn't sure what to do. So, I called customer service and they were happy to assist me.

The representative on the line not only helped me, but she made me feel so comfortable that we carried on with more questions that I had in reference to the company and its policies.

I hope and pray that ZipCar Inc. compensates them well. They must be! I haven't run into a customer service rep that wasn't chipper.
